Summer Camps

The FIS summer camp program offers students unforgettable experiences through challenging academic and social activities. Our students have always relished the opportunity to learn alongside their friends into the summer vacation. Students not only have fun learning, but get to know new friends before starting school in the fall as well.

Activities
Qualified teachers lead a wide variety of challenging and fun activities designed to meet the needs of students from different age groups and nationalities. Activities are open to native English as well as non-native speakers, and are usually attended by both current and newly enrolled students.

Examples of activities may include:

  • Adventure and team sports
  • Performing arts
  • Arts and crafts
  • Computer technology
  • English as a second language
  • Creative writing
  • Robotics

Enrollment in Camps for Non-FIS and FISW Students
Class sizes are limited. Preference is first given to FIS/FISW families and secondly to those who applied earliest.

Early Bird Discount

Families who register on or before 17 April date, will receive a €20 Early Bird Discount for each submitted registration.

Cancelation Policy

If a participant drops out of a program before summer camp begins, there will be a €50 cancelation fee. If a participant drops out after it begins or does not show up, they will be charged a €100 cancelation fee. Exceptions will only be made in extreme circumstances and medical reasons require a doctor’s note.

Primary School Summer Camp

The First Steps to Grade 1 Full Day Program is dedicated to the idea that a child’s summer should be about having fun, learning new things, meeting new friends, and exploration!

We offer a wide range of activities to help your child’s social development, confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and inquiry. The camp includes many hands-on and engaging activities. Each day has a structured routine and the camp is a great way for children who will be joining our school in August to meet new friends and get to know FIS. Every day your child will have indoor and outdoor play.

Special Activities may include:

  • Water days
  • A day at the playground with a picnic
  • Forest walks
  • Pizza lunch
  • Field Trips (Frankfurt Zoo, Halli Galli, etc.)

Elementary School Summer Camp

This camp is intended to give Elementary School children an opportunity to explore and discover new interests. Campers will have access to a variety of activities in a safe, fun and caring environment.

A rotating schedule will allow campers to sample various activities and work with different teachers while staying within the comfort of their summer class groupings. Morning classes may include Design/Computer Technology, Aloha Math, Creative/Performing Arts, Sports & Games, and Language Arts.

After lunch, campers will have the opportunity to participate in group activities such as swimming, sports activities, arts & crafts projects, and various field trips. Campers are encouraged to try new things, make friends, and have fun.

Afternoon Activities may include:

  • Swimming (Oberursel Schwimmbad)
  • Creative Movement/Dance
  • Field Trips (Lochmühle, Taunuswunderland, Senckenberg Museum, etc.)
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Cooking
  • Board Games
*ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) OPTION: Families may sign up for an ESL option within the Elementary School Summer Camp. The ESL option is ideal for students who wish to improve their English by receiving instruction from an ESL trained teacher who will create a learning environment best suited for improvement of written and oral English. ESL students will be part of most regular camp activities, but their class rotation will include an ESL course instead of Language Arts. If you wish to select the ESL Option, please specify your choice when you submit the registration form.

Grades 5-9 Creative/Performing Arts Summer Camp

This summer camp for students in Grades 5-9 will focus on exploring the artist in each of its participants. Instructors and the Theater production staff will work with students to create works of art in multiple mediums, as well as produce their own props for the musical production week.

One week of class is devoted to creative art and prop making. The other week is the A-Z of creating a musical production. Families are encouraged to attend the 50 minute Musical performance on either 8 July or 15 July at 15:00.

Grades 5-9 Sport and Adventure Summer Camp

Hi-Ropes, Climbing walls, Mountain Biking, Archery, and Radio Navigation courses are all part of this two-week camp that will keep students in Grades 5-9 on the move all day!

This camp is lead by highly qualified fitness and outdoor specialty instructors, and will push these young people to their adventure limits.

In addition to the off-site adventure days, students will be taught and coached through many different sports and fitness games/activities that will lead them to life-long fitness and health.

Come out and experience all the things you would hope to find in several different camps, all in one place.
