The Writing Symposium, in collaboration with German author Katrin McClean and Scoventa publishing, returned to the Upper School for a second time this year and 12 FIS students from Grades 9-11, and three visiting students from the Paul Hindemith Schule Frankfurt, spent a week writing short stories and creating artwork to be turned into a published book.
Student writers completed workshops with Ms. McClean and learned to write and redraft their stories in a workshop environment; art students worked with a graphic Designer, Anja Fuchs, from Scoventa publishing, and learned about designing book jackets, under deadline, in collaboration with the authors. The results are truly amazing.
The students and publishing team gave a wonderful presentation of their work at FIS in February, and students' stories and artwork are currently with Scoventa publishing, being turned into a published short story collection. There will be an official book launch on Friday, 12 May from 17:00-19:00 in the FIS Auditorium. During the event, students will read extracts from their work and afterwards sign copies of the published book.
From June onwards, the books will be available for purchase in the Upper School Bookstore and Library, and on Amazon.de. For a behind-the-scenes look at the week-long Writing Symposium, click here.
