Application Process
Our Admissions office recognizes that applying to a new school can be a daunting process, and we would like to do everything possible to support your family as you explore the possibility of joining our FIS community. Whether you intend to join our campus in Oberursel or in Wiesbaden, we will be pleased to assist you through the application process.
It is important for families applying to FIS to remember that our enrollment is limited and therefore applications should ideally be submitted between
1 January and 1 April prior to the beginning of a new school year. While we will accept applications throughout the school year, an early application in January will increase the chances of being able to accommodate your family’s needs.
The FIS admission process is guided by the school's Articles of Association, Mission Statement and Board Policy, all which have established the school’s primary purpose as serving the needs of international families. Given this premise, after the admission of guaranteed placements per the Corporate Partnership Program (see below), international applicants are given first priority in the admission process, followed by local applicants with extensive international experience, and then, if space remains, other local families are also welcomed into the FIS community.
Within the latter three categories, further priority status is given to applicants who have previously attended the school, have a sibling already accepted into the school, or have a parent who is an alumnus of the school. After these considerations, the application date will be used to prioritize students in each category. Applications are generally not accepted before 1 January for admission to the coming school year.
To apply for admission, fill out and return via fax or e-mail a completed application form (see sidebar on right). In addition to the completed application, our school will need you to send by mail or fax the following documents:
• Copy of student passport or birth certificate
• Completed FIS Student Medical Record with immunization history
• School transcripts and records for the past two years (in English)
• One passport-sized photograph of the student
• Student Referral Form, completed by current teacher for Grade 2-12 applicants
• Standardized testing results, if available
• Psycho-Educational Reports, if applicable
