After School Activities (REAL)
On our campuses the school day doesn’t end with the last class.
Our Recreation, Enrichment and Learning (REAL) program of after school activities provides students, parents and faculty with opportunities to spend time in a relaxed environment teaching and learning new skills beyond the classroom. It also gives students the opportunity to work and build friendships with students from many backgrounds and grades.
After school activities start in September, and are offered in two semesters throughout the year.
For a comprehensive look at the kinds of courses we offer, please download our REAL After School Activities catalog.
Accommodations at FIS are available to allow students to participate in after school activities while remaining in a supervised environment.
Our Kids Club is an extended day program that offers childcare for students up to Grade 5 who wish to participate in an activity that starts at 16:15. A late bus, which leaves at 17:20, allows students to participate in activities and still have the convenience of taking the bus home.
NOTE: The late bus service is only available to areas that are difficult to reach by public transportation. For further details, please contact Annette Schlosser at (0)6171-2024-466.
Activities for Adults and Students
In addition to after school activities, there are a variety of classes during the day for adults. While classes vary from session to session, examples include German and Mandarin language instruction, fiction writing and physical fitness courses. For students, the Kids Club provides supervised childcare after school and before activities start.
Weekend Activities for Families
In addition to weekday after school activities, there are several weekend activities geared toward the whole family. Hiking, biking and cooking are just a few of activities that allow families to participate together.
For more detailed information about current after school activities, see the specific campus page (Oberursel or Wiesbaden) on the left-hand rail.
If you are a member of the FIS community and are interested in teaching an after school activity, please contact Todd Kearns for more information.
