Elementary School: Grades 2-5
A warm welcome to the Elementary School at Frankfurt International School. Here, we cater to more than 400 students from over 50 different countries and who between them, speak in excess of 30 different languages. This culturally diverse student body is supported by 56 faculty, staff and administrators who themselves come to us from a dozen different countries.
Our curriculum follows the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme, ensuring that all of our students pursue an inquiry-driven approach to learning. Homeroom teachers, with classes of 22 students, deliver the core subjects of Literacy, Mathematics and our Units of Inquiry, while specialist teachers complete our rich learning environment with Art, Music, Physical Education and German.
Because a number of our students have a language other than English as their native tongue, ESL teachers support students’ development across a number of proficiency levels and monitor students who leave our programme. Additionally, two Learning Support teachers assist students with mild learning disabilities.
As well as being able to take advantage of our well-equipped homeroom and specialist environments, our students are also able to access extra curricular offerings that take them well beyond the classroom. We provide leadership and community service opportunities within our Student Forum and Earth Rescue groups, and offer a great range of after school activities through our After School Activities program and Saturday Sports opportunities.
Through our well structured, well organized program – and with the support of our dedicated and caring faculty and staff – the children who attend our Elementary School develop their intellect, creativity and character in ways that will prepare them not only for the years of schooling ahead, but also for their life-long learning journey.
