The Upper School at Frankfurt International School provides a well-balanced education for some 900 students in Grades 6-12. The academic curriculum and pastoral support are designed to provide a seamless opportunity for all students to acquire the knowledge, skills and attributes essential for successful entry into tertiary education, to follow a chosen career path, and to become productive global citizens.
Some 90 specialist teachers teach across Grades 6-12, resulting in the reduction of transition breaks between grades, as students experience common expectations and incrementally build upon their skills and knowledge each year, preparing ultimately for the IB Diploma Programme.
The Grade 6-10 curriculum is designed by our teachers to specifically prepare students for the greatest success in the IB Programme, to develop in students the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, and to deliver an education that fulfills FIS's Mission and Beliefs. Teams of teachers and administrators work together to provide the expertise and support needed to help each student fulfill their potential. Department Heads oversee the development and delivery of the curriculum while teams of counselors, Year Heads and homeroom teachers provide the social and emotional support essential for student well-being and achievement.
Frankfurt International School provides A World of Opportunities for students, and the Upper School is no exception. There are numerous and varied opportunities for students to learn and to become involved outside of the classroom walls including: MUN, Odyssey of the Mind, Language clubs, Environmental club, Student Congress, Student Forum; Upper School Newspaper, The FIS Herald (FISH), The Well our literary magazine, Dance, Bands, Choirs, Drama, Sports, Fencing, and our thriving and successful Leadership and Internship programs to mention just a few opportunities.
We very much look forward to you joining us in the upper school and are happy to provide any further information you would find helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
