a place to learn & play

Your child’s first experience in school is critical to their future academic success. A deep understanding of the importance of these early years is at the heart of all we do at the FIS Primary School.

Our Primary School on the Oberursel Campus is a purpose-built facility where approximately 250 students from age three (First Steps) through Grade 1 begin their learning journey, guided by dedicated early years educators.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) curriculum provides the foundation for learning and emphasizes the development of the whole child – intellectual, social, emotional and physical – within our unique international context.

The Primary School experience not only helps students to build the skills that lead to future academic success, but also eases their transition into the FIS Elementary School, which is accessed via a forested path on our campus.

"My amazing FIS colleagues make work a great place to be. They inspire me to reach higher and try harder each year. I love getting to know the kids and I especially love having siblings of former students and watching families grow. It is a real privilege to be part of people's lives like that. I just love learning and teaching and I love the interaction between teachers and students."

Parents play an important role in the FIS Oberursel Primary School community. In addition to classroom visits, events such as Applefest and Worldfest provide opportunities for families to interact and further build relationships. Learn more about how parents can get involved at FIS.

The FIS Oberursel Primary School is a purpose-built facility that sits at the upper end of the school's sprawling campus. In addition to its own expansive library and classrooms with an abundance of natural light, the FIS Primary School also features a playground, cafeteria, auditorium, gym, music and art rooms, and outdoor learning area.

Join in our Activities

FIS provides many opportunities for students to participate in the performing arts, learn a new skill, play a sport, meet new friends, or just have fun. Through our REAL Activities Program, students are sure to find something that satisfies their budding interests and curiosity.

Discover the Outdoors

Kids in the forest

Outdoor learning allows students to develop a strong connection with the natural environment, while building their confidence and independence. The Primary School's proximity to more than 130,000 hectares of forested hills offers a natural playground in which students can explore, observe, learn and play.
