Discover FIS

With two unique campuses in Oberursel and Wiesbaden, rigorous academics, a variety of performing and visual arts offerings, and a strong athletics program, Frankfurt International School truly provides students – and their families – with A World of Opportunities.

We ARE Committed to Excellence

We hold our school to the highest standards, knowing that many of our students, who come from over 60 nations, will leave FIS and continue onward to other top-ranked schools around the globe. We are proud of our school’s reputation and long history as a high-achieving IB school, yet our experienced faculty also remain focused on preparing students to be successful in an ever-changing world. Whether it's learning to play a stringed instrument in the Primary School, exploring new worlds through Virtual Reality in Grade 4, or starring as a lead in an Upper School drama performance, FIS offers a challenging and dynamic educational program to fit the individual needs of each student.

Many of our students, who come from over 60 countries, will leave FIS and continue onward to other top-ranked schools around the globe.

We ARe Family Oriented

At FIS we do not simply accept students, we accept families. We take our mission to be a family-oriented school seriously, and strive to create a place where a meaningful partnership of mutual support exists between your home and the school. The richness of FIS is grounded in the way we communicate with our families and actively involve them in our learning community. Parents can volunteer at school, as well as join their own adult classes and special events. Many of our families have traveled far from their countries of origin and we have made it our mission to create a new home for them at FIS.

We strive to create a place where a meaningful partnership of mutual support exists between your home and the school.

we ARe Internationally Minded

Lifelong bonds are formed between our students as they pursue a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. At FIS, students learn that diversity is a strength not only of our school, but for our world community as well. Our students learn about personal and global responsibility through engaging classroom discussions, leadership opportunities, and real-life experiences of helping others inside and outside of the school community. Nothing unites a diverse group better than striving toward a common goal.

Students learn that diversity is a strength not only of our school, but for our world community as well.

We Are A Global Network

Our FIS family extends well beyond those currently on our campuses. FIS Alumni make up an important part of our extended community, representing our school in their lives beyond school and throughout the world. Whether here for their entire primary education, or for just a short time, we consider all former students important members of our FIS family and continue to nurture those connections through an annual FIS Alumni Reunion and other gatherings in countries around the globe.

Whether at FIS for their entire primary education, or for just a short time, we consider all former students important members of our family.

A Proud History

Frankfurt International School is one of the oldest international schools in Europe, founded in 1961 by a group of six expatriate families from major international companies to meet the need for an English-speaking education in the Frankfurt area.

Since then, FIS has continued to grow, serving as a center of learning for thousands of students from every part of the globe. Our existence has enhanced the economic strength of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main region and our faculty and staff have set a fine example for the FIS alumni who now work in a wide variety of professions worldwide.
