Through teamwork, a new Athletics philosophy emerges
As an extension of the classroom, the FIS Athletic Program provides Middle and High School student athletes with a place – whether it be a field, court, trail or swim lane – to learn about teamwork, experience personal growth, and build strong moral character. We are committed to providing a wide variety of athletic experiences to teach students life-long skills, including respect, commitment and sportsmanship.
Our dedicated coaches, educators and parents inspire athletes to persevere and be courageous, while still having fun. As a community, we encourage good character – both on the field and in the stands. We strive to foster the FIS Warrior spirit, instill pride in our school, and ensure that our athletes leave with positive memories and a love of the sport.
FIS participates in the International Schools Sports Tournament (ISST) and Sports Council of International Schools (SCIS) organizations, which allows our students to both host visiting athletes here at home and travel to other destinations around Europe for games and tournaments.
"I met some of my closest friends playing sports at FIS. It has also given me the opportunity to travel all around Europe, meet new people from different cultures through housing and hosting, given me the opportunity to improve with the outstanding fitness center and basketball gym, and provided me with an amazing support system of teachers, coaches, and administrators. Playing sports has taught me how to discipline myself and work hard to achieve my goals."
Grade 9 Student
"My favorite activity outside of school has to be soccer. I tried out for soccer in Grades 6,7 and 8. In Grade 6 I made the B team which was a very fun experience as I played with older kids who taught me a lot of things about soccer. But more importantly I got to travel around Europe to play the sport I love, and at the same time I learned so much about different cultures thanks to housing and hosting. In Grade 7 and 8 I made A team and I got to learn even more about other people and their life stories, about how they traveled and moved just like me."
