FIS Speaker Series

Frankfurt International School is pleased to introduce a new Speaker Series designed to inspire, inform, and support FIS families and friends. The Speaker Series aims to bring renowned experts to FIS to share insights on the most relevant topics in international education, parenting, and child development.

We invite you to join our first session: "Raising Bilingual (or Multilingual!) Children: Six Building Blocks for Success" on Tuesday, 22 September from 18:00-19:30.

About the session: Raising children with two or more languages is an exciting yet complex journey. To ensure a child's success, it helps to understand not just the why of multilingualism, but the how.

In this interactive session, Dr. Eowyn Crisfield will break down the key stages of language development and outline practical strategies for family language planning. Whether your household navigates two, three, or more languages, you will leave with actionable tools tailored to your family's unique dynamics.

Headshot of Dr. Eowyn Crisfield

Dr. Eowyn Crisfield is a specialist in teaching English as a second/foreign language, teacher training, and bilingualism. Since 2003, she has specialized in parent and teacher education for bilingualism, and works with schools globally.

Dr. Crisfield is author of Bilingual Families: A practical language planning guide, and co-author of Linguistic and Cultural Innovation in Schools: The Languages Challenge. 

In 2025, she founded the Oxford Collaborative for Multilingualism in Education to provide research-informed, practice-driven school development for languages.
