a place to make new friends

Accepting students to our school means also warmly welcoming their entire family into our active community. Parent involvement is encouraged on both the Oberursel and Wiesbaden campus, and is well supported through a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, the REAL Activities Program, and other social events in which parents can take part.

Welcome events at the start of each school year help connect new families with those who have been at the school for some time, and smaller events throughout the year provide all parents and families with opportunities to experience German culture while socializing with friends. Examples of such events include:

  • Kloster Eberbach Monastery Tour and Wine Tasting
  • Traditional St. Martin’s Goose Lunch
  • Rüdesheim Christmas Market Visit
  • Henkell Champagne (Sekt) Tour

Oberursel

On the Oberursel campus, parents from across the Primary, Elementary and Upper School come together to participate in activities such as organized forest walks, pick-up sports games, or special events like the PTG Welcome Breakfast, World Fest, Apple Fest, an Oktoberfest celebration, or family Rhinegau region tour.

Wiesbaden

While the Wiesbaden campus may be smaller in size, the enthusiasm the parent community exudes in staying connected is anything but. Each year, the schools hosts a variety of events, including a Welcome Back BBQ, International Festival and Summer Fete, as well as dances, movie nights and other cultural celebrations. Parents from the FIS Wiesbaden campus also gather outside of school for scheduled "Gentleman of Wiesbaden" get togethers, a monthly moms' book club, or walking tours organized by the Parent Teacher Group (PTG).

Events on both campuses at the beginning of each school year help parents settle in and meet new families.

"FIS provides an environment for our three children to learn and share across many different cultures and opens a real window to a number of opportunities." Isabella Caprilles, FIS Parent
