Elementary School

a place to be curious & creative

Elementary students look into container of pond water with science teacher
When students join FIS as an Elementary School student, they experience a world with new discoveries, new challenges and new friends.

In our Elementary School (Grades 2-5), on both the Oberursel and Wiesbaden campus, we engage young learners and motivate them to strive for their best. Our experienced faculty focus on individual student learning and are masters of differentiation. As well as helping students acquire the skills to become good communicators, and open minded, caring, principled, risk takers and thinkers, they do so through making to make learning fun.

At the FIS Elementary School, our students and faculty come from more than 50 countries, helping to create a community that is rich in cultural diversity – and the perfect place to develop an internationally-minded outlook on both learning and the world.

Welcome to the Elementary School

At FIS, children are both challenged and supported at each stage of their development. We want children to grow to be competent individuals, exercise their voice and agency, and take ownership of learning, while being respectful to others.

Both homeroom and specialist teachers deliver subjects though the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme's (IB PYP) Units of Inquiry, helping students make connections between disciplines and concepts throughout the curriculum. While the majority of student learning takes place in spacious and well-resourced classrooms, a dedicated Elementary School Library (in Oberursel), Makerspace, Science Lab, and other facilities, students also have a wide range of activities to choose from through our after-school REAL Activities program.

BE ENERGIZED.
