This fall, faculty and staff at FIS and FISW spent two days, sans students, exploring and developing their professional understanding and practices on a range of topics. In alignment with the school's strategic initiatives, faculty and staff at FISW enjoyed professional dialogue and training under themes ranging from inquiry, outdoor learning and maths, to technology as a tool for assessment, writers workshops, child safeguarding, and more.
With the exception of some wonderful input from visiting experts in outdoor education, all other workshops at FISW were facilitated by FISW faculty. The PD days made best use of institutional knowledge and showcased the considerable expertise and enthusiasm within the school's professional learning community. Participants greatly benefited from discussions about FISW's particular set of circumstances, its goals, and student, and learning was immediately utilized to inform planning for next steps, and teaching and learning in upcoming units.
