"Inspiring individuals to develop their intellect, creativity and character" isn't just a part of Frankfurt International School's mission – it's a commitment that comes to life every day in our Upper School's art, band, choir, dance, drama and music classes.
The arts program is based upon several fundamental characteristics of the arts disciplines:
Education in the arts encourages and nurtures human creativity – one of the key elements in the preparation of young people for successful future roles in shaping the 21st century.
Understanding and expression in the arts means access to the means by which humans have conveyed their beliefs, hopes and values in every society, culture and country throughout the ages. We believe that individuals who are not literate in these “languages” are incomplete in their education.
Through the arts, students learn the meaning of work done to the best of one’s ability, for the joy and satisfaction of a job well done, and the appreciation of quality and craftsmanship.
The greatest works of art communicate enduring human concerns and students cannot experience the arts without touching on values. They develop an understanding of how values shape all human efforts, and that the arts can not only express, but also affect and influence personal value choices.
In addition to visual and performing art courses, there are many opportunities for students to develop their talents in band, choir and drama performances, and to showcase their work at art exhibits.
