Upper School House System
The House System at FIS provides opportunities for student leadership, intramural competition, and cross-grade mentoring programs to students in Grades 6-12.
Houses have been carefully created to represent and reflect the “family-oriented” nature of the school and its mission. Each house has been named after one of the school's founding families – six founding board members, the founding head of school and the founding custodians. These historical FIS families were chosen as they represent the foundation that the school was built upon – and which will never change.
FIS decided that eight Houses would be an appropriate number to divide all of our students and avoid creating logistical challenges.
