Our Upper School provides a well-balanced education for approximately 950 students in Grades 6-12. The academic curriculum and pastoral support are designed to provide a seamless opportunity for all students to acquire the knowledge, skills and attributes essential for successful entry into tertiary education or to follow a chosen career path. To be educated at FIS is to be immersed in a world of opportunities.
Our learning environment has more than 100 specialist teachers who teach across Grades 6-12. Our Grade 6-10 curriculum is designed by our teachers to meet the developmentally appropriate needs of our students, culminating in the IB Diploma Programme for Grades 11 and 12. We aim to develop in students the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, and to deliver an education that fulfills FIS's Mission and Beliefs.
In addition to being world class teachers, our faculty also work to provide the expertise and support needed to help each student fulfill their potential. Department Heads oversee the development and delivery of the curriculum while teams of counselors, Year Heads and homeroom teachers provide the social and emotional support essential for student well-being and achievement.
At FIS, learning is certainly not limited to the classroom, and much of what makes our school special is our extensive co-curricular programs. Being at FIS means you are able to complement your academic studies with sports, arts, service, or any number of our clubs and activities. Have a look at the Community Life section of our website for a detailed list of what is on offer. It is worth noting that many of the activities are designed, and led by, our own students. If you don't find a club or activity currently offered at FIS that you currently do, we're open to seeing how we can connect you with someone in the community who does – or perhaps you can even start it at FIS.
